Note: 1 Extra from Kirk Session Records (Oathlaw)
The Kirk Session record reads: “Oathlaw, 1789, June 14. The Kirk Session having long’ had under thoughts to purchase silver Cups for the Communion, as the old ones they had were very unfit for that purpose, and likewise considering that Elizabeth Smith had mortified five pounds sterling;and had signified it was her intention that it should be employed in purchasing a silver Cup for the Communion, the Session resolved to employ another five pounds for another Cup; accordingly two silver and the value (ten pounds sterling), given to the Minister to be transmitted to Dundee to the Maker , and his receipt demanded for the same, and lodged with the Session papers.

Note: 2 Antiques Road Show (Oathlaw)
In 1997 an Antiques Road show was held at Glamis Castle and the Oathlaw Silverware taken along. The valuer made two comments: the first was the Cups had had their damaged bases replaced with an EPNS equivalent, no doubt to save money. Secondly the Flagon Tray had been purchased separately and was from an earlier date.
